Virtual Consultation
You will need to send our office an email describing your specific concerns and desired results. Please attach several digital photographs to the email. Photos should be taken in a well-lit room, preferably against a white wall. Unless your inquiry is in regards to a facial procedure, your face should not appear in any of the photos. If you are sending photos of your torso, please send a front view and a side view, and be sure to wear undergarments. We will request additional information, such as your medical history, medications and allergies. Dr. Dumanian will advise whether you are a good candidate for surgery, and give you information about the risks, recovery time and typical results of your requested procedure. He may recommend an additional or alternative procedure if he feels it’s appropriate.
Information about pricing, payment and financing will also be disclosed during the consultative phase.
Scheduling and Preparing for Your Procedure
Once you and the doctor have settled on a treatment plan, the surgery date will be scheduled. You will receive comprehensive instructions for preparing for surgery. You may need to have some lab testing performed locally, and the results sent to our office. The exact tests depend on your age, general health and planned procedure(s). If you have any questions about this step of the process, we are happy to help coordinate. Your instructions will also include medications to stop taking prior to surgery.
Our office can also assist you as you make your travel plans. We can recommend options for transportation, accommodations and other local resources (such as aftercare or a private nurse). Keep in mind that you will need to arrive in Chicago at least one full day before your surgery, so you can see Dr. Dumanian for a pre-operative visit, and complete some final paperwork. You should plan to stay in Chicago for a week after surgery before returning home.
Post-Operative Care
After your operation, you will need someone to stay with you for the first 24 hours of your recovery. This person can help you move around, take your medications, prepare or order meals and run any errands you need. Some of our out-of-town patients have a friend or family member fly to Chicago with them to help. If you have traveled to Chicago alone, we can help you arrange to stay in an aftercare facility or hire a private nurse for the first 24 hours.
You will have several follow-up visits with Dr. Dumanian during your stay in Chicago. Our office will work with you to make these visits as convenient as possible. We will keep in close contact with you until you have healed enough to fly home.
Once you return home, we will continue to follow up with you via phone or email. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact us at any time.
