Inguinal hernias occur due a weakness in the abdominal wall. These groin hernias can be painful, and should be repaired due to possible obstruction and strangulation of the bowel. Dr. Dumanian typically will refer inguinal hernia conditions to general surgery colleagues.
Some patients who have had inguinal hernia repairs unfortunately develop pain from irritated nerves. Dr. Dumanian does have experience in treating these painful conditions, and will often do these surgeries with a general surgery colleague.
